Choose Your Words Carefully!

Welcome to March and to my blog!

Many of you may already be following me on my Image for Change blog or on Twitter. Today I am so excited to be writing my first blog entry for my language and writing blog, Communication for Change.

For many of us, March brings the promise of spring and revival. For me (and for many others, I suspect), it is also a time to take stock of the past winter months and to take positive steps forward into the rest of the year. As a language instructor, part of my "to do" list for March involves thinking about new and exciting ways to promote the importance of well-chosen words in speaking and writing.

Recently I began subscribing online to the Huffington Post and am delighted by the breadth and quality of much of the writing that I find there. Today, Frank Luntz has posted "The 11 Words for 2011." For now, I will only ask you to read this article and think about the messages you pick up. Please feel free to post comments, and we'll start a discussion tomorrow! Happy reading and thinking!
Lauren
